Jewelry Care and Maintenance

Our pieces are crafted from stanless steel with 925 sterling silver plating and 18k gold plating. With proper and regular care, their beauty and durability can be preserved over time. Below you will find some essential recommendations to help keep your jewelry in excellent condition.

Why Does Silver Darken?

Silver naturally undergoes a reversible oxidation process when it comes into contact with sulfur particles present in the air. This reaction is normal and does not indicate poor quality.

Silver is a reactive metal and may also darken when exposed to substances such as perfumes, chlorine, makeup, hair sprays. Even the natural pH level of your skin can contribute to this change.

If your jewelry appears darker or less shiny, this is due to the formation of a thin protective layer on the surface of the metal, not material deterioration.

Daily Use Recommendations

  • Avoid wearing rings and other jewelry while gardening, exercising, or swimming, especially in saltwater or chlorinated pools.

  • As silver is a soft and malleable metal, it can deform easily. Remove your jewelry when performing activities that may involve pressure or impact.

  • Take off your jewelry before going to bed and before showering. To protect gold plating, it is essential to avoid contact with water, as moisture shortens its lifespan.

  • Apply perfumes, hair sprays, and cosmetics before putting on your jewelry. Direct contact with these products can dull the finish, particularly on gold-plated pieces.

  • Store your jewelry away from direct sunlight and humid environments. We recommend keeping your pieces in their MONARCH boxes, which are ideal for safe storage and long-term protection.

Cleaning and Care

To restore shine and remove light tarnish, gently polish your jewelry using a specialized jewelry cleaning cloth.

For a deeper clean, mix a small amount of mild soap with warm water and gently brush the jewelry with a soft-bristled brush.
